Testimonials

I met Jamie Richards, Kiwi owner of Margaret Wray, when I was living in London through James. I had seen a number of her amazing creations and I knew she’d be perfect to design my dream dress. After trying on a number of dresses in Auckland I met with Jamie and talked through what I wanted and then she came up with a few ideas. It evolved over time, but it was evident Jamie had a clear talent for this so I tried to be fairly relaxed about it and let her do what she does best. Of course the end result was stunning.

Margaret Wray offers a boutique experience when creating a gown, therefore, Jamie struck a reassuring balance between the necessary requirements of my dress, her design/style advise and what I liked.  This explanation doesn’t do the work Jamie does justice, but from the client’s point of view, it should be simple and seamless – which it definitely was.  The ability to create my dress from sketch exactly as described and I imagined, was amazing.

There was no other choice for me to create the most precious item I will ever wear!

As someone who lives in trousers and jumpsuits, this was always going to be quite a journey, Jamie was considerate and patient with me every step of the way. She listened to every idea I had in my head (of which there were many) thoughtfully looked at what would work for me and created a gown that could not have been more perfect.

Jamie was in regular contact with me keeping me in the loop with where she was at with my gown. My family, friends and especially my husband were speechless when I walked down the aisle claiming that they have never seen me look so elegant and stunning I felt like a princess.

I recently entered in Central Southland Bride of the Year competition (personally so I got to wear my gown again) and took out the title of 2018 Bride of the year, which I was absolutely thrilled about, and the judges were extremely impressed with Jamie's design skills and her ability to make fabric work so flawlessly.
